Stake has quietly informed its highest-tier players that the 10-minute reload option will be discontinued as part of an upcoming overhaul of its VIP program, effective June 1st. The announcement was delivered directly by VIP hosts to affected players, with the platform framing the move as part of “upcoming updates” while promising unspecified improvements down the line.
Daily and hourly reload options will remain available for now, but the removal of the 10-minute interval is widely seen as a significant downgrade for those in the know. The 10-minute option, while never prominently advertised, was prized among veteran VIP players for a simple reason: stacked across a day, its total reload value was roughly four times higher than the daily alternative.
The change applies to players at Platinum IV level and above — the threshold at which VIP hosts are assigned and infinite reloads become available.
A Pattern of Quiet Cuts
Players are not taking the news well. The announcement follows what many describe as a pattern of silent benefit reductions: last year, Stake scaled back reloads without formal notice. The decision to communicate this change proactively via VIP hosts has done little to reassure a community already on edge.
Speculation is growing that the 10-minute option is merely the first domino to fall, with some players predicting that all VIP reloads could eventually be phased out entirely. Stake’s messaging leaves the door open to new features, with hosts referencing unspecified improvements around reloads and VIP rewards — but given the platform’s recent track record, many are bracing for further cuts rather than meaningful enhancements.
Too Many Platinum IV Players?
One theory circulating among players ties the shake-up to an influx of Platinum IV members. As the tier has grown alongside the platform’s rising popularity, the economics of maintaining infinite reload access at scale have become harder to justify. With more players now qualifying for the most generous perk tier, some believe Stake is recalibrating what that tier actually delivers.
For context, reaching Platinum IV requires approximately $2.5 million in wagering. When Stake first launched, VIP hosts — and the perks that came with them — were accessible at the Gold level, which required just $100,000. That’s a 25x increase in the threshold, and the goalposts appear to still be moving.
